Harvard University offers a comprehensive, free online course catalog. The catalog includes a broad range of courses in liberal arts, sciences, business and engineering. Students can choose from courses that range from video game development to the history of the London cholera epidemic of 1854.

Stanford offers a wide variety of free online courses that are open to anyone. The courses cover a wide range of topics, from medicine to computer science and business. The online courses are taught by Stanford professors, and include lecture videos, quizzes and assignments. They are self-paced, so you can start and stop them at any time.
